Veronica Ingram ’20, ’21

I served in the U.S. Army for 21 years. I am the author of a children’s book and have several writing journals for sale on Amazon. After I retired from the military, I taught high school in Southern California. I recently relocated to Georgia and teach middle school in Gwinnett County. I am currently working on my second book. I am married and have three children and two grandchildren. I have an active website that directs people to my writing journals. http://www.veronicaingram.com

What do you now do for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path?

I am an Instructional Coach for the Junior Leadership Corps Class and the Program Specialist. While teaching leadership to high school students, I realized leadership classes could prepare middle school students for high school. After inquiring, I found out that there was a leadership elective/connections class for middle school students. So, I chose to leave high school and teach at the middle school level. I am ecstatic to teach middle schoolers how to be a leader at an early age. Additionally, I am equally delighted to teach the importance of effective communication and how to achieve academic success.

Why did you choose to attend FHSU?

FHSU was recommended to me by two people. After I inquired about the program, I thought it would be the best university for me, and I was right. FHSU is military-friendly. The professors are friendly. The Education program is excellent.

What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students?

I would suggest that you make sure you communicate effectively with your professors.

Tell us about someone at FHSU who has left a lasting impression:

Three people left an impression on me. The first person is Dr. Donna Rice. Dr. Rice would go above and beyond to ensure I had the answer whenever I had questions.
Dr. Moody and Dr. Elodie Jones were a tremendous help when I had problems getting into the Google community, which one of my classes was using. They continued to work with me until the issue was resolved, ensuring I had the opportunity to succeed in that class.

Additional comments:

I recommend FHSU for people looking to start or finish their educational journey.
