I’m a Bennington, KS, native and attended FHSU to get my BBA in Management (HR), BA in Foreign Language (Spanish), and MBA (HR). I competed for the Tigers for five years as a pole vaulter. I was also involved in SGA as a Senator, the VP, and SGA/Student Body President.
What do you now do for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path?
I work for WellSky Corp. in Overland Park, where I am a part of the people and talent (HR) team as a business intern. I do a lot of work in employment relations and compensation analysis. I chose this path because I love how HR influences company health, employee satisfaction, and employee development. Each day in the office is different, and I have enjoyed getting to know the team.
Why did you choose to attend FHSU?
I chose FHSU because it was the most affordable and close to home. I heard great things about RCOBE and got a pole vault scholarship.
What are your favorite memories from your time as a student?
I loved Tiger Game days, spending time with my roommates, student organization trips, and indoor/outdoor nationals trips with the track team.
What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students?
Don’t be afraid to go all into a few things! Only do what you enjoy and reflect on how you are spending your time. Take time away from studying and enjoy time with your friends. Don’t go home on the weekends as much as you want to, and make plans where you are. Believe that you can do great things. FHSU is a great place to see just how incredible you can be.
Tell us about someone at FHSU who has left a lasting impression:
So many people come to mind, but David Schulte made an admirable impact on FHSU. He studied hard, volunteered often, and led several clubs well. He shared his talents all over campus and left each club, class, and person he encountered better than he found them. He also knew how to set it all aside to enjoy time with his friends.
In what ways are you proud to be a Tiger?
I am proud to be a Tiger because FHSU represents a diverse body of students. FHSU is a catalyst for positive experiences and a place where students can step into their potential. I am proud to be an alum because FHSU helped me to become who I hoped to be five years ago, as it has many others.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way! Although the Ken B. Jones Award has my name on it, it represents the good people and systems at FHSU. It takes a village.
