Hannah Doll ’18

I grew up in Holyrood, Kansas, and moved to Salina, KS, in 2006, where I attended St. Mary’s
Grade School and graduated from Sacred Heart Jr/Sr High School in 2013. I played one year
of volleyball at Hutchinson Community College before transferring to Fort Hays State
University. I graduated from FHSU in 2018 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in
Marketing with a Minor in Advertising and Public Relations. I also obtained a certificate in
leadership studies at FHSU.

What do you now do for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path?
I work for the Catholic Diocese of Salina as Director of Marketing for Salina Catholic Schools.
I have experience in smaller non-profit organizations and large for-profit companies and felt
it was my calling to get back to my roots and be a part of the Salina Catholic Schools that
shaped me as a student into a young adult entering college. I chose this career path
because I wanted to make an impact on these wonderful institutions and the Salina
community! I find my career very rewarding and fulfilling.

Why did you choose to attend FHSU?
I chose FHSU because of its smaller campus size and the “home-like” feel. I would be remiss
if I didn’t mention that part of my decision when choosing a university was the cost of
education. Fort Hays State University granted me a wonderful college experience while
keeping my student loan debt much lower than other state universities.

What are your favorite memories from your time as a student?
My favorite memories were attending sporting events, studying on campus in the union or
the quad, or hanging with friends. Enjoying the Q on a Friday or shopping downtown on a
Saturday morning was very common too!

What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students?
My advice for current students would be to venture outside their comfort zone during their
college years and explore different clubs, activities, or events – you never know what people
or opportunities might come from it! My advice for prospective students would be to keep
an open mind when exploring colleges because FHSU wasn’t on my radar until I got on
campus and got that strong feeling of familiarity, and knew it was the right place for me!

Tell us about someone at FHSU who has left a lasting impression:
I have two! First, my English professor, Linda McHenry. She was genuinely thoughtful, kind,
and made her students feel heard and valued. Secondly, my advisor, Mike Martin. He was
easy to talk to when discussing and planning my semesters, and if I had questions about
anything in my courses or my major, he was always very willing to help!

In what ways are you proud to be a Tiger?
I am proud to be a Tiger because FHSU gives you a unique college experience you can’t find
elsewhere. I have been to other universities across the state, and there is something so
special about Hays and FHSU!
