Christopher Stemler ’12

Tell us about yourself:

I’m a financial wholesaler and ERISA consultant. My wife, our two kids, and I live in Topeka. We enjoy traveling when able and running our rental, real estate, and event venue companies.

What do you now do for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path?

I am a financial wholesaler and property developer.

I got into finance almost by accident. A family friend helped me start with Security Benefit years ago, and finance was a great fit.

Why did you choose to attend FHSU?

I had a rough experience at my first school. Fort Hays felt like it was looking to help me versus treating me as a revenue stream.

What are your favorite memories from your time as a student?

I enjoyed the organizational leadership classes. I have spent a lot of my sales and consulting time working on emotional IQ skills, and the degree I received prepared me well for that.

What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students?

This is hard. Advice should be specific, not general. I would say network well, be open to meeting new people, try new things, and be curious.

In what ways are you proud to be a Tiger?

I have never once met other alumni who have been disappointed in their time at FHSU.

Additional comments:

I don’t have a pdf resume handy. But everything is on my LinkedIn.
