Ayanna Hensley ’22

I’m a 2019 graduate from Dodge City Kansas. While at FHSU, I was a member of the Tiger Debs and represented the Rudd Foundation as one of the FHSU scholars.

What do you do now for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path?

I was recently crowned as Miss Kansas 2022. The goal remains to enter my master’s degree as a physician assistant, but there’s an inevitable gap between applications and acceptance— this just happened to be filled with the newest state title.

Why did you choose to attend FHSU?

I chose FHSU due to the community and the resemblance to my hometown. After earning the Rudd Scholarship, my interest was solidified, and I knew I was meant to be a Tiger.

What are your favorite memories from your time as a student?

There are way too many good memories to choose only a few. I think it was always the little things and the random nights of Sonic runs with friends. I met some of the best people through FHSU, so a lot of these memories stemmed from them!

What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students?

Don’t be scared to put yourself out there. Talk to strangers, meet new people, and always say yes to new adventures. It’s through these things I found the most success.

In what ways are you proud to be a Tiger?

College is getting harder to attend every year, but FHSU proves to put students first and they’ve created opportunities for not only Kansas students but for those in different states as well. Tigers do more for others before themselves and that’s something I’ve appreciated and acknowledged at FHSU.
