Jillian (Harper) Runyan ’21

Tell us about yourself: I graduated from FHSU in May 2021 with my Bachelor’s in Nursing. Since then, I have already experienced many life changes. I took and passed the NCLEX in June. The following month, I married Mason Runyan, Class of 2022. I started a nurse residency program in August at Wesley Medical Center, and have almost completed the program.

What do you now do for a living? How did you end up choosing this career path? I currently work as a registered nurse on the Acute Care Specialty Unit, which is currently focused on treating patients with COVID-19. I love getting to care for each of my patients and learn so much about this pandemic.

Why did you choose to attend FHSU? I chose to attend FHSU because both of my parents and numerous other family members are also FHSU alumni. I also loved the campus and couldn’t wait to be a part of the awesome nursing program.

What are your favorite memories from your time as a student? My favorite memories at FHSU include homecoming and football games. The atmosphere at games is something I am going to greatly miss.

What advice do you have for current or prospective FHSU students? My best advice is to enjoy the small moments. It was easy to get caught up in school work, but I enjoy each of the memories from my time at FHSU.
